Welcome to The Specialist
Paediatric Dental Practice

The Specialist Paediatric Dental Practice offers a full range of dental services for infants, children and adolescents, including those with special needs. Services include general dental maintenance and oral hygiene advice, restorative treatment, extractions and dental prosthetics. Whilst we love to see our patients for regular check-ups, we also specialise in complex cases where extensive treatment may be required, and/or where the patient is too young or too anxious to simply have the work done ‘in the chair’. Nitrous oxide sedation is available on-site and General Anaesthesia is available as an option at The Crows Nest Day Hospital. Appointments for an initial consultation are generally available within a very reasonable timeframe, with urgent cases given priority. We would encourage you to explore the rest of the information contained on our website. If you require any further information, or just want to ask a few questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Initial Consultation
The following information may be helpful to you prior to your child’s first visit. Should you require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact us!
Your child’s first appointment will be for a structured consultation. Included in this consultation is: a comprehensive medical/dental history review, an oral examination (including a chalky teeth check), assessment of growth and development, oral hygiene assessment and instruction, and a dietary assessment and advice as related to oral health. Due to the complex nature of this consultation, it will be necessary for at least one parent, or ideally both, to attend with the child. No treatment will be provided at this visit. It may be necessary to take radiographs (x-rays) in order to finalise a treatment plan, and where possible this will be done at the consultation appointment. Your child will be carefully assessed, and a strategy devised which best suits his or her individual needs.
